Have your say on plans for new retirement living homes in Ascott-under-Wychwood
Blue Cedar Homes is proposing to build 7 new single storey retirement bungalows on land off London Lane, Ascott-under-Wychwood. The proposed new homes are designed specifically for those aged 55 and over to live independently during their retirement years.

We have launched this website to give local people the opportunity to shape our plans for the site before they are finalised and a planning application is submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council.
Building much needed homes for older people
At least 55% of Ascott-under-Wychwood's residents are aged 45 and over, indicating a strong need for new homes suitable for older people in the local area.

The new homes that we propose to build would help older people move into a home that better suits their needs, freeing up larger family homes for younger families that want to live in the area.

Protecting local character and heritage
Our proposed site layout has been designed to respect the setting of the Limestone Wolds Architectural Character Area, the Evenlode Valley Landscape Character Area and the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

We propose significant areas of landscaping on site to protect long and short distance views across the site from various vantage points in the local area.

Contributing to meeting an urgent local demand
The adopted West Oxfordshire Local Plan (page 54, section 5.81) suggests that between 1981 and 2011, the district's population aged over 60 grew by 82%.

This proportion of the local population is projected to grow further before the year 2031 by an estimated 54%. But there are currently only 614 homes in West Oxfordshire that are specifically designed for older people, representing only 0.01% of the total households in West Oxfordshire (43,241).
